A Christmas Tradition

With a Vermont Twist

The Green Mountain Nutcracker

Experience the joy of one of Vermont’s most cherished traditions! The Green Mountain Nutcracker is a classic holiday story with an enchanting local twist.

Join Marie on a magical adventure, as she follows the Nutcracker Prince from her Vermont home through snow-enchanted forests to a magical land. Whether you’re seeing it for the first or the eighteenth time, The Green Mountain Nutcracker will transport you to a familiar-made-fantastical world. From the boisterous loggers to the Maple Sugar fairy, you’ll delight in the many colorful, local characters that give this interpretation its name.

Now in its 18th year, this one-of-a-kind production features an all-ages, 65 member cast of professional company dancers and scores of local students, all-original choreography by Christine Harris, Chloe Reynolds, Carissa Bellando, and Willow Wonder, set to both Tchaikovsky’s familiar score and original music by Vermont musician, Colin McCaffrey, as well as a delightful array of locally made sets and costumes.

Set in Vermont in the 1970s, this close-to-home and dear-to-heart northern rendition of the classic ballet continues to enthrall audiences of all ages. Make memories, and create your own annual tradition, with friends and family at one of Vermont’s most beloved holiday performances.

The Green Mountain Nutcracker really is a celebration of what it is to be living in Vermont — the snow, the leaves, the community, the culture, the stacking wood. It’s an exalting of those qualities. Vermonters are hardworking people; dancers are hardworking people, and there’s joy in hard work. I think you feel that in our ‘Nutcracker'.
